The Substance Abuse Program offers high-risk teenagers a variety of anti-substance abuse experiences and activities. Focus is on the development of problem solving skills, effective communication techniques, goal setting and decision making. Club members are given a sense of self worth and direction through career exploration activities, public speaking and participating in debates on important social issues such as community violence and gang activity. Members are encouraged to not become involved in costly and destructive behavior, which can result from the use of alcohol and drugs.
